I just watched the film 'Enemy' with Jake Gillenhall, its a kind of tense drama where a guy meets a guy who's his double, the films ending is completely weird and unexpected, it kinda freaked me out, I wont tell as some may want to watch it.
I just read some blog (obtained from imdb) by this guy who reckons to have an explanation but its like reading a phd thesis ffs
Any other films with very freaky endings out there?
wasnt Shutter Island a nominee?

Predestination has a weird ending. Although is pretty weird all way through. As id read the original Robert Heinlen story it was based on I was prepared. My daughter and son were just weirded out

I'm a big David Lynch fan and I have to say some of his films are head-scratchers.

I saw a movie at the Theater this year and it just came out on Blu Ray ( think it's called) The Kingsmen, sort of like a James Bond movie, typical save the world story, but at the end he saves a princess from a prison cell and they zoom in on her a$$ and she told him he could do her from behind for saving her.
Totally unexpected...... (i'd call that a most bizarre ending)

Wow, that's some classy filmmaking. :P
Still Alice had a bizarre ending in that it didn't really have one, just trailed off. Most disappointing. The book was the same way, but I was sure they'd change the ending for the movie. Sadly, no.

Maybe they were afraid of the ratings if they zoomed in on her butt and...

"Grease" was a straightforward high school rock & roll musical until the Ford De Luxe soared into flight at the end....
EH??
so.. was it actually a time travel/sci fi fantasy after all then?
Or what?
???

It was a strange film. Most of it had the feel of an adolescent action film. But bits like that sort of made it too adult oriented.

I suppose one could include Easy Rider in this oeuvre

Easy Rider is in that list of classic films I've never got round to seeing. I think catching up on all my unseen classic films will be a retirement project one day.

Late 60's films immediately came to mind for me. I think many were breaking away from formulaic happy endings.
Certain Beatle-esque ones can definitely qualify: The Magic Christian, Wonderwall, How I won the War, etc.
There could be a long list made from that era.

Primal Fear has the best movie ending ever, in my opinion. It completely caught me off guard when I watched it 'way back when.
