I'm sick & tired of hearing about Bono because he's the most nauseating holier than thou rock star on the planet who is everywhere in the media constantly pretending to be virtuous. If he thinks he's going to be president of the World Bank he's out of his mind in more ways than one & if he wins the Nobel Peace Prize it's officially a joke more so than now. His band U2 is just as sickening since they're the most overrated rock group on the planet & in rock history when what set them apart in the 80's was that they weren't Motley Crue.

Wow. You always have such strong opinions. People seem to be either Rock Legends or The Most Overated Group.
Is there anyone who you think is just OK?

I love U2..but I have to agree with Wayne...nowadays Bono is just...pompous.

I think it's great what Bono's doing. When rock stars use their influence to make the world a little bit better instead of just writing lyrics about breaking stuff (Limp Bizkit), stabbing homosexuals (Eminem) or how great it is to be rich, a gangster and a pimp (Snoop Dogg), I can only support that. I don't care for U2 but I'd say more power to Bono.
-
And besides that, Bono is actually acchieving something. He's actually reaching all those powerful world leaders. So how can you possibly think he's not doing a good thing? Because you'd rather hear him scream "Yeah! Rock out! Rock 'n' roll! Woohoo!" on stage like everyone else? Come on...

'He's actually reaching all those powerful world leaders'
If you truly believe that, I think you hold more faith in the Goverment* than most.
*Whatever one you desire.

I don't have the slightest bit of faith in any government, but if you want a world leader to even slightly change his mind, I guess the best way to do it is to go have lunch or dinner with him if you get the chance and just talk the best you can. Bono has the posibility to do that, and I think it's great he does it.

I guess what John did was in vain as well. Think about it, people STILL talke about John and his peace movements. He DID make a difference. How ever little it may be. It's in the subconcious minds of many. I've heard of people writing letters to try and get John nominated for the nobel peace prize. Postumously of course. So if Bono gets out there and preaches and visits underdeveloped countries and speaks out against all the injustces in the world bringing to the attention of many who would otherwise be in the dark, then I think he's making a difference. However small. It has to start somewhere and these guys have a huge venue. I guess people would like him better if he were dating model after model and getting busted for drugs. I can't believe anyone would fault Bono for what he's doing and call it self serving. That's just ignorance.
-
well someone had to take up Johns mantle after he retired.
YES!! I guess Wayne would have been annoyed at John's constant preaching too.

Though U2 is not really my taste, I like them and Bono, they are good musicians, and Bono is a great person with the music and charity he makes.
