Anyone know who that is echoing in the last verse of Yellow Submarine?

I always thought it was John for some reason.  Beatnix (an Australian Beatles cover band) had"john" doing it as well when they sang it live, which 'confirmed' it for me.  But I could very well be wrong! ;)
