Actually the song called "Let There Be Love" by Oasis starts out with a similar guitar riff as some of "Elo's songs" They had quite a few hits in their day!!

Their 1st album is quite strange. They have re-written ''I Am The Walrus'' and "Eleanor Rigby" on some of their songs in there.

I love ELO!  Back in the day when you bought an ELO album you got the total package, great music, wild cover art, and in a lot of case's colored vinyl. Nobody else did an lp like ELO.

Count me in the group that loves ELO!  They get slagged off a lot but Jeff Lynn wrote some outstanding songs and I enjoy their 70's era albums a lot.  I thought Zoom was a pretty good return to form too.

I think they got sandwiched into the Disco scene for some reason but strangely, I've never considered their sound to be Disco in any way, shape or form.

Jeff Lynne is really underrated. Yeah I agree, they have their own sound as far as I'm concerned. That ELO sound. Current bands like Grandaddy and Air sound so ELO-esque.

..it occured to me, even "Real Love" and "Free As A Bird" sound so ELO-esque, the way Jeff Lynne recorded Ringo's snare, etc..

ELO is a kind of guilty pleasure.

I'm not sure it's hip to like them too much, but I often play their greatest hits CDs.

Hope the concert is good.

Tell us all about it Dmitry.
