There are more pictures taken at this session, but they don't show the Spanish guitar.

I am currently uploading Yes It Is (take 9) and the unexpected That Means A Lot (take 1) in which I think you can hear a Spanish guitar being used. You already have You've Got To Hide Your Love Away (take 1) with the false start. See the link in my signature to download those two songs.

You can hear it on take 1, which is on Anthology if I'm correct.

Yes it is. And I read somewhere (=Andy Babiuk?? ) that there are photos from those Rubber Sould sessions -probably 'Michelle' rehearsals- where a capo on John's Spanish guitar is seen. Any hints??

Best!! ;)

It's in Andy Babiuk's book, page 172. No signs of any pics tho.

This site can be a good help to determine where and when a Spanish guitar was used: http://perso.wanadoo.es/sissu/maingear.htm

Altough I knew the site already..., thank you very much Bobber!! ;)

BTW:

Ricky 360-12 Fire-glo was given to GH in February 1964. He used it mostly in most AHDN numbers and on tour, but NOT after that..., correct??

Gretsch 6119 Tennessean was purchased by GH in late 1964 (=at that site is stated that it was used for the recording of 'Things We Said Today' in 2 June 1964, but it's probably a mistake), used mostly on BFS and Help recordings, and on tour but NOT after that..., correct??

Meanwhile GH says in -at least- fur interviews from 1964 (=February, June, November and again in November) that he admires Segovia's playing very much, that is learning his playing from recordings and is seen and heard in -at least- 11 photos, one video and ca. 6 recordings and/or rehearsals, dated from end of July 1963 to February 1965, playing his Ramirez...

What does rthis mean?? (=if anything)

Best!! ;-)

Mmmm. The Spanish site relates to eventually released songs of course. They could have used a Spanish guitar in earlier, unreleased, takes.

I will scan through a bootleg with home recordings on Monday.

This pic still puzzles me. Ringo is playing George's Ramirez but..., when and where??

He is he sitting on a drums stool..., isn't he??

Paul is at the back with his Epiphone Casino, which he purchased in December 1964..., didn't he??

George's haircut seems to be like the one at BFS cover..., doesn't it??

The man on the left seems to be John..., doesn't he??

On the flor seems to be some cables, like the ones used at recording (=or TV) studios...

Is the venue Abbey Road Studios?? Any chamber room at any theatre??

Has anybody any thoughts about when and where the pic was taken??

Best!! ;)

From the book 'The Fab Four Faq'

..."In late 1965 Paul purchased an Epiphone Casino...and both John, and George, impressed with the guitar's sound, bought one in early 1966...."

The pic looks to be around October[?] November[?] '65 to me. I could be wrong, and I probably am.  :P

Here is a link from a site called "The Canteen" by John Crowley. Some of you might already know about it. For all I know he might be a poster on here... but anyway,

http://www.thecanteen.com/lennon5.html

He mentions Yes It Is and also Anytime At All which I found interesting and sent him an email about where he found that info....

Just an FYI...

I have to admit , in the beginning I thought the whole nylon string pursuit was a little nutty but now Im totally engrossed in it!

Carry on!

Lots of acoustic guitars in there, but besides the earliest takes of Strawberry Fields Forever, it doesn't sound like nylon strings or the recordings are too bad to determine.
