Is the bassline on Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" same as RS's "Gimme Shelter"?

Can anyone tell me if the bassline on Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" has been lifted/sampled from The Rolling Stones' "Gimme Shelter"? Or, is it laid out musically similar to "Gimme Shelter"? To the ear, they spund very much alike. And if that is the case, would the Stones get royalties and wrtting credits for it?

No I think the notes are slightly different but its very similar, no the Stones wouldnt get royalties (unless it was directly sampled) !

plagarism usually involves the melody of a song, I dont think you can 'own' a bass line or a drum rhythm etc

No, I don't think so. In any case, The Stones are no strangers to "borrowing" bits of songs.

I think Adele should get sued anyway. I hate her music with a passion.
