This is a first, I think: a Beatles book I don't feel compelled to read.
I didn't learn anything new from the Post's summary, so I doubt the book will add much either. It smacks of a sensationalistic purpose. Ironically, Peter Brown's The Love You Make (which I just now noticed was also coauthored with Stephen Gaines) was the very first Beatles book I read.
Reviews on Amazon aren't too keen.

Snow today and tomorrow. . . Ugh! All the other states have moved on to spring, but pathetic old North Dakota is still languishing in winter. So—I'm mixing a coctail and getting my calypso on. |

I'm here my friend. Dino was a sad loss. Just watched some videos of the Rascals on some 60's cruise ship from a few weeks ago. It just isn't the same. Even Felix Cavaliere couldn't help but be impressed by him, here doing a two-handed drum stick twirl... Yes, it's a sad loss. |

I'm digging a band called The Surfrajettes. They are an all female, surf music band. They aren't technically great, but they have their moments. Their drummer Annie Lillis is pretty good.

isn't the rosier glasses view from Get Back, while possibly biased the other way, a better depiction of that time in their careers? Yes, I would think so, but I'm still looking forward to comparing and contrasting the two. (Hey, that would make a great school assignment.) What is Disney doing with it, enhancing the quality of the video/audio at all? Peter Jackson is remastering the original footage. From The Verge: "Like the docuseries The Beatles: Get Back, Let It Be will feature original film footage remastered by Peter Jackson’s Park Road Post Production and remastered audio created using the same de-mixing tools that recently led to the release of the Beatles’ final song." Given that I've seen only a bootleg, I'm looking forward to the remastered version. Looks like it will indeed be released for streaming on May 8: https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/music/2024/04/16/beatles-let-it-be-documentary-peter-jackson-disney/73340860007/ |
