1985 vs. Rinse the Raindrops

These are two of my favorite Macca Solo songs that he did.  They're unexpected, anthemic closers to their respective albums, and I usually group them together because they kick so much ass.

Which one do you prefer?

I like both of these songs too. I voted for 1985 because,,,,well, its a classic and i've always loved it. 'Rinse the Raindrops' is good too and I like the power and pace of the song, but,,,(heaven help me), I dont really like Pauls voice in this song. It just sounds like he's straining to me, but dont get me wrong,,,,again, I like both of them.

(not to many people fond of 'Driving Rain' around here either for some reason so 'RTR' may not have been heard by a lot of people)

I pick Ninteen Hundred and Eighty Five too. The song is just a great and classic song. I always enjoy listening to it. Macca was in his prime(solo years) when he wrote it.

Count me out. Driving Rain is awesome in my opinion. before chaos came out, i didn't know how he could make a better album next.

I like it too my friend. It seems to get slammed a good bit for some reason though. A buddy and I were just listening to it again the other day when he remarked,,,,'You know,,,this is a damn good record.'

I happily agreed!

I like (don't love) it too ... I used to listen to it a lot ... not as often now ...  :B

.. It's not one of his best albums ... but those are the ones I (like) listen to the most ... the ones that (define) give a better portrait of an artist ... 'cos to be mainstream is quite easy but to be one-shelf is the thing to be ...  8)

1985, for sure. I don't like Rinse The Raindrops too much. Generally I cut Driving Rain in Your Loving Flame. To me, it would be better Driving Rain as a 13-track album excluding Riding Into Jaipur and Rinse The Raindrops, and including Freedom as a hidden track, and not as a separate track. RID and RTR must have been B-sides for From A Lover To A Friend, there are not too good as the rest of the album.  :(

It's much better song-wise.
I Love them both but Rinse the Raindrops was possibly
just a on-going jam, but it does Rock!! ;) Still think he sound have
ended it better. but 1985 is just wonderful! i love the organ break! :)

I agree with this and thats how I feel too. Its just when I do throw it on (and its not to often), I think to myself that it doesnt deserve some of the flack it gets, but truthfully, its definately not one of his best.

Does that even make sense?

Its not even close. Rinse the raindrops is a pile of self indulgent nonsense. where as 1985 is classic wings that inexplicably has been ignored by paul as far as live shows go for way too long.

Nineteen hundred and eighty five all the way
