Which year was a version of the 7-note trumpet blast on Penny Lane first heard in the United Kingdom after it was recorded?

Ah! This time you added "after it was recorded." ;)
I think it was first heard in the United Kingdom in 1980 when the UK album The Beatles Box was released. It might have been heard earlier if someone played a 1967 promo 45 on the radio.

The US promo 45 and the mix that appeared on The Beatles Box (and the US album Beatles Rarities) differed...
The Beatles - Penny Lane - 45 RPM - Promotional Copy WITH TRUMPET ENDING (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sH8f-HGsgJ4#ws)
Beatles - Penny Lane (Rare version with horns) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GsyA03QGGo#)
The description for Penny Lane on the Beatles Rarities album reads: Stereo, new version compiled from the German true stereo version with the US promotional mono version's extra piccolo trumpet solo added onto the ending; not available on CD

First time I heard it in the U.S. was on radio - the promo version with trumpet ending. Better question: Why was it edited out on the public release?
