Title: Beatle links game.
Post by: Kevin on July 24, 2007, 11:08:00 AM
This may be fun or it may be boring. Kind of a six degrees of seperation thing.
Example (and an extreme one) Beatles to Johny Depp. And once more god bless Wiki.
1. Beatles performed with Billy Preston.
2. who played with Red Hot Chilli Peppers
3. who used Rain Phoenix as a touring backing singer
4. who was the sister of River Phoenix
5. who was a friend of, and died in the nightclub owned by...Johny Depp.

I can do The Beatles to Harvey Keital in 4. (all from Wiki, working backwards of course.)

I did it in 2!

1. On Saturday, February 8, 1964, as part of the Beatles first visit to America, John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr visited Central Park while entertaining photographers and members of the press. George Harrison stayed back at the group's suite at the Plaza Hotel, due to a bout with tonsillitis.

2. Harvey Keitel starred in a film called Prince Of Central Park.

Hope I'm understanding the rules correctly!  :B

Not bad. Your link with Central Park is a bit loose. Mine was
1. Beatles backed black singing group The Chants
2.who wrote ( a song I can't f*cking find now)
3. which was recorded by Earth Wind and Fire
4. who appeared in, and did the soundtrack for, the film That's The Way of The World, which starred...

All unneccesarily complicated I've course - I just remember E W & F covered Got To get You Into My Life.

LOL!

Too right it was loose! I'd would have been there forever! LOL ;D

But the links were there in the Wikepedia write-up about Harvey Keitel - I couldn't do it going the other way though; from Beatles to Harvey Keitel!

OK Mairi. How fast can you get to Marilyn?
I'm sure there are less tossy ones, but I've got (using people who've actually met):*
1. Beatles had a guitarist called George
2. Who met President Gerald Ford
3. Who served on the Warren Commission with Allen Dulles
4. who was head of the CIA under JFK
5. who poked Marilyn.

* to make it harder, otherwise you'll cream me.

Though I've just realised Marilyn probably met elvis.

Using the "old" way...

1. The Beatles had a bass player called Paul McCartney
2. Paul McCartney duetted with Paul Simon at the Adopt A Minefield benefit concert.
3. Paul Simon sang about Joe DiMaggio in his song Mrs Robinson
4. Joe DiMaggio was at one time married to Marilyn Monroe!

1. The Beatles once met Jayne Mansfield
2. Whose character in the film "Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?" spoofed Marilyn

or just using people who have met

1. The Beatles hung out with Joan Baez a couple of times
2. Who met Marlon Brando at Live Aid
3. Who sorta knew James Dean
4. Who met Marilyn and did a photoshoot with her

Here's a shorter Brando connection:

1. Bob Dylan met the Beatles in 1964
2. In 1963 Dylan attended the March on Washington along with Marlon Brando
3. Marlon Brando had a long term affair with Marilyn Monroe

Or how about Marilyn was on the cover of Sgt Pepper. Doesn't that count!?

It wouldn't have anything to do with Moonwalks by any chance?

OK. Beatles to Billy Ocean:

1. The Beatles had a bass player called Paul McCartney
2. Who made a few records with Michael Jackson
3. Who is credited with inventing the Moonwalk
4. When actually, Billy Ocean did.

All these seem to be based around The Beatles having a bass player called Paul don't they?!!

Anyway... Beatles to Billy Ocean the NEW way!

1. The Beatles had a bass player called Paul (well what did you expect?!!)
2. Paul recorded with Michael Jackson.
3. Michael Jackson had a sister called Latoya
4. Latoya Jackson had some songs written for her by Billy Ocean (not sure if they actually met though).

Excellent. Mine was:
1. Beatles wrote Ob lida .....
2. Covered by Marmalade
3. Managed by Peter Walsh
4. Who managed Billy Ocean.

In '93 when times were hard I worked in a record distribution warehouse out by Heathrow. "When The Going Gets Tough" by Billy was number one, and it was the first time in years a label handled by them had topped the charts, so they played it over and over and..

I can link the Beatles to the Ramones in two. Can anyone guess how?

Phil Spector?
Title: Re: Beatle links game.
Post by: Sondra on July 26, 2007, 06:44:13 PM
That wasn't what I was thinking. How's Phil Spector linked to the Ramones?? I'm not huge on Ramones history unfortunately. Here's my way:

1. Paul, George, and Ringo all did a show called the Simpsons.
2. The Ramones also appeared on said show.

Pretty lame, but it works.

Aha, easy!

Phil Spector produced both Let It Be for The Beatles AND The Ramones' End Of The Century album.

I should have known that! Oh well, Phil did a lot of good work while he was out there terrorizing women. What a guy.

How about the Beatles linked to Russell Crowe!

Marilyn didn't have an affair with Brando. At least, not that I know of. Where did you hear that, Sandra?

Here's an interesting one:

Beatles to Hilary Duff:

1. The Beatles were asked to reunite for an episode of SNL
2. a show which was guest hosted many times by Steve Martin
3. Who appeared in the 2004 remake of Cheaper By The Dozen with Hilary Duff
