White Album wallpaper
« on: June 04, 2005, 08:58:12 PM »

Hello all, I created a simple wallpaper in honor of 1968, the white album perios.
Hope you like it :)

It's pretty simple I know..
Let me know what you think, I have some more on the way.

You're a nice person Indica.

My opinion about Sarit's effort was a little different.

I like it. It is very simple, but that's what's cool about it.

I thought the structure and design was a bit obvious.

I'm more intrigued though by your "Really?" Did you think everyone would like it? Were you not prepared for some to dislike it? I presume you yourself as the "artist" do not regard it as a perfect work: why then does it surprise you that others might see problems with it as well?

^ Probably because others before you had liked it...

I personally think it's all right, but I'd like to see more complex works! I mean, this one perfectly fits the simplicity of the White Album (i.e. the simplicity of the album cover, and the generally simple songs on the album), but I think you should try more difficult designs for maybe other periods...

For now, though, this is a fitting wallpaper for my desktop!

Cheers!

I don't think the word "really" followed by a question mark necessarily means that they are shocked and appalled to find that someone doesn't like it because they were absolutely positive that everyone on earth would think it is lovely. It's just something you say. "Oh, really? You didn't like it? Oh well."

Anyways, I dig. I'll be watching out for your others.

Don't be dumb, missy! I didn't say that the "Really?" meant he/she was shocked and appalled, etc.

If you'll read what I actually wrote you'll see that the word I used was "intrigued" - and intrigued I was that he/she was apparently surprised that someone might not like the work much. Any creative person with a brain should always be prepared for that!

Haha, ok I went back and read what you actually wrote (as opposed to the other thing I read before), and you're right. So allow me rephrase: The word "really" followed by a question mark does not necessarily indicate that Sarit was not prepared for disapproval, so I am merely intrigued that you are intrigued by it.

Give us a kiss, darling! :K)

I despair at this forum sometimes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why do SOME people feel it necessary to create friction over such innocent threads time and time again? There really is absolutely NO excuse for being so rude to people - to be honest I find it extremely embarrassing that grown-up intelligent people are getting their kicks tearing a strip off others. Really not funny.

On the contrary: no one is being rude. I think your problem is that you want everyone to "agree" and not rub anyone up the wrong way. Sorry, but that's not  going to happen. Here, I thought (honestly) that the pic was poor, unimaginative and derivative. The author asked what we thought. I said what I thought in a round-about way. Then Sarit said "Really?", and I gave my opinion on that.

There is really no big deal here. Remember the big "Is it J or P that goes ahhh" debate? You were interesting and committed! We all were!  It was great: I enjoyed all that as it was vigorous and forceful.

A good forum is one where you log on, and you catch up on the latest disagreement or discussion, where you say: great, so-and-so has posted. You don't want the latest list thread, or song game, or what are you doing now thread, or - for that matter - a please praise my art thread!

Dolly, its no secret that we've had our little spouts and so forth, but i'm sure your probably an alright guy in person and i'm sure you see Al's point. I understand that you werent knocked out by the wallpaper that was presented by the author, but wouldnt it be better to just say nothing than to degrade it? Its possible to be honest and a decent person at the same time.

As for the song game, lists, polls, etc, threads,,,,well sometimes debatable topics just arent readily available. Sure their fun, but theres only so much info out there for us all to use. It cant be a dog fight everyday.

My 'problem' is with provocative statements like this:

"I'm more intrigued though by your "Really?" Did you think everyone would like it? Were you not prepared for some to dislike it? I presume you yourself as the "artist" do not regard it as a perfect work: why then does it surprise you that others might see problems with it as well?

And this:

"Don't be dumb, missy! I didn't say that the "Really?" meant he/she was shocked and appalled, etc.

If you'll read what I actually wrote you'll see that the word I used was "intrigued" - and intrigued I was that he/she was apparently surprised that someone might not like the work much. Any creative person with a brain should always be prepared for that!"

So tell me, in Australia, is it not considered rude to call someone dumb?

You know full well that I enjoy a good honest debate - the problem is you create arguments seemingly out of nothing, often at the detriment of others, just for the hell of it.

If the first thing you look for when you log on is the latest argument, why did you feel the need to post comments regarding a screen-saver? Please consider that a rhetorical question, by the way - I don't want to get into a massive argument where you'll rip apart my grammar!

Keep smiling everyone!
