If The "Beatles" Were Still Together?
« on: August 02, 2006, 01:29:50 AM »

Which producer today do you think they should have worked with? I think "Bob Rock" or "Rick Rubin" would have shead  a different light on the guys musical style? So who would have given the Beatles a great album?

It's funny that we've had Steve Lillywhite and Brian Eno, both having produced U2. Rick Rubin is an interesting choice, as he's produced so many different stlyles you couldn't say 'that sounds like a Rick Rubin record'. And you would need someone of very strong character, otherwise they'd be walked all over, and the whole thing would end in chaos. Jeff Lynne is probably the obvious choice having been a successful musician in his own right, they would respect and listen to him.

Tony Visconti might have been an interesting choice!
Be interesting if Macca did an album produced by him..

I love his work with Radiohead, but do you think he did anything interesting with 'Chaos'?

Yes i think he made McCartney work harder on his lyrics . Also think he was able to make a mature artist sound fresh and current .

George Martin is retired. Everything Jeff Lynne does tends to sound like ELO.

even though he said he didn't want to do another beatle record... i think he would come around...

maybe his son...

If the Beatles were still together & they decided to do one more album, I think Rick Rubin or Robert " Mutt " Lange would be the producer.  I don't personally think they would still be together at all, since they would have broke up as a band by 75 at the latest.

I think if the Beatles stayed together till 75 or 76 then they possibley would
have had their solo songs as beatles songs. I can see Band on the Run as
a beatles title for an albm. I don't think John & Paul would have carried on writing
together though. :-/

Rick Rubin would be an excellent choice, but Mutt Lange? The producer of Def Leopard, Shania Twain, and The Corrs? :(
