Watched The Hobbit. It was certainly better than the first one and Cumberbatch does an awesome job as a dragon. Worth a watch

It was really quite touching. You can tell she really was a whole, giving person. I thought that she became so close to their families was very nice. Loyalty doesn't come along like that every day! I liked the movie and her very much!

Here's one you would enjoy, Kathy...

It's a 1964 TV movie written by Rod Serling and directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz.  It was a modernized A Christmas Carol and a plea for global cooperation between nations broadcast at the height of the 1960s nuclear scare.  It was on Turner Classic Movies the other day.  Maybe they'll have it on again next week.

But if TCM won't be repeating it, here it is on YouTube...

Great cast too:  Sterling Hayden, Peter Sellers, Robert Shaw, Eva Marie Saint, Richard Harris, Ben Gazzara, Steve Lawrence, Pat Hingle, Barbara Ann Teer, James Shigeta and Britt Ekland.

Peter Fonda's scenes playing Daniel Grudge's (Sterling Hayden) 22-year-old son Marley, killed in action during Christmas Eve of 1944, were deleted in the final weeks of production.

Daniel Grudge is the 1964 version of Ebenezer Scrooge, played beautifully by Sterling Hayden.  Steve Lawrence played The Ghost of Christmas Past, Pat Hingle played The Ghost of Christmas Present, and Robert Shaw played The Ghost of Christmas Future.

Henry Mancini wrote the theme music.

I have a copy of this and watched it last year. Very difficult to find. I think it was captured from a TCM telecast.

Quite special, and should be made widely available.

TCM telecast it last year at this time.  It was the first time it appeared on television since it originally aired on December 28, 1964.

The secret life of Walter Mitty. I do not see the point of it? Not sure if it supposed to have a plot either.... Seems like Ben Stiler just really wanted to make a film in Iceland.... Don't watch it

The original with Danny Kaye was very good. Too bad that classics get messed up as remakes. Iceland? Why? Ben Stiller? Yipes!

I don't understand Hollywood's obsession with remakes and sequels. They almost always suck.  roll:)

I think Hollywood ran out of original ideas a long time ago!

I agree! Just watched Good Ol' Frida this morning. I actually wonder if her Beatles Weekly publications are attainable? A remarkable person indeed. And a very good film

I watched The Shawshank Redemption last night. I was probably one of the few people who had not seen it. What a great movie! It's hard to believe that it didn't do very well at the box office. I loved the way Tim Robbins' character Andy Dufrense explained his ability to enjoy music, even when he was in solitary confinement: "That's the beauty of music. They can't get that from you... Haven't you ever felt that way about music?" I feel the same way, like it's always with me no matter what I'm doing.
