I hear that one come up a lot. I've got to give it a good listen to again. Many Gilmour solos make me FEEL something. I can't really say that about a lot of other artists. Something about his playing. No idea what it is not being a musician, but he just really seems to be to bare his soul in his music.

The Gilmour thread is dying. Oh well. Wonder how well a Clapton thread would do in comparision. He seems more compatible to Beatle people I think. With the connections and all.   ;) But please, Gilmour so deserves that nickname way more than Clapton!  >:(

Heres a good question then...Who out of Clapton and Gilmour played the most hours at Abbey RD?...Could be a case for the closer connection. Then there is the post hey-day colaborations live & studio. Time for the afficianado's to step in. :)

Great question and good point. I hope people who know this stuff answer cuz I know very little about the Floyd/Beatles connections. I think all I know about is Gilmour playing on "No More Lonely Nights." Which is awesome, of course. And he wrote a song about Lennon's murder. That's the extent of my knowledge unfortunately.

(I can't believe I've never seen this movie.)

Great quote about Gilmour.

"You can give him a ukulele and he can make it sound like a Stradivarius." - Bob Ezrin

What do you guitarists think of his style/technique??

No, we'll keep the David Gilmour thread going.  I'll find pictures and post.  Just like I do on my Greg Lake thread.  Keep this thread going.  I feel I have a very strong "connection" to some of you out here with this Gilmour thread.  As for the Beatles/Pink Floyd connection, they both were in Abbey Road Studios summer of '67 working on their respective albums, "Sgt. Pepper" and "Pipers".  They were just down the hallway from each other from what I understand.  And who probably "logged" the most studios hours, Abbey Road and other, would probably be in my book Jimmy Page.  He was afterall, before Zep, "the" session man people went to.  He played on hundreds of recordings during that early/mid 60's period.  Correct me if I'm wrong..............now..........off to find some pictures of our sexy Dave............

Saw Gilmour last night on TV. Live in Gdansk, Poland marking the anniversary of solidarity. Was this Dave and Rick Wrights last gig together? i also noticed Guy Pratt on bass but did not recognise the other musicians.

^I think you can view that on the BBC something website. I can't, but those from the UK can. No fair!! But some live Gilmour performance is posted there along with the History of Pink Floyd. Which I also cannot watch.  >:(
