Not really: so far as I know it's usually rated one of The Beatles' best three or four albums. But it is true that its stock has gone down a bit in comparison with Revolver's: there are eight Rubber Soul period tracks on the Red Album and only three Revolver ones, which may tell you something about how critical tastes have changed since 1973.  :)

I think its a bit overrated to be honest. Seeing people choose it over 'Revolver' just boggles my mind.

Overrated - a Beatles album? Never :P... Now what's overrated is the Jonas Sisters - I mean Brothers. ><

I love Rubber Soul, just as much as I love Revolver - which is just as much as I love the White Album, or Please Please Me, or Abbey Road... they're all the Beatles, so they're all great ;) The only way Rubber Soul would be UNDERrated? - is if you handed it to a Jonas Brothers fan :P

Rubber Soul's never really been my favourite, there's a few tracks on there that I love...  In my life, Norwegian Wood, and I'm looking through you.  I don't think it's their best album but it's definately not their worst!

Rubber has some of my favourite songs on it, but revolver is a better overall album.

Side 1 of Rubber Soul is the singular greatest 'side' of the Beatles career

No, I don't think Rubber Soul is underrated.  I do think it is a tad overrated, though.  To me, I think the three masterpiece albums were Revolver, The White Album, and Abbey Road.  I still think Rubber Soul is a great album, but it does confuse me when it outranks some of those titles.  And I think it is a little strange that RS had 6 songs on the Red Album, and Revolver only 2! Also, Sgt. Pepper had 4 songs on the Blue album, Abbey Road had 4, and the White Album only had 3.

Well, I think the good thing about the Beatles' career is that they don't have one album that is universally considered to be their best, as opposed to, let's say the Beach Boys.  Look at any poll.  I would say 90% of the time, the top 5 Beatles albums are the same 5 titles, just in a different order.

However, if it is any consolation, an argument in favour of Rubber Soul being underrated is that it is the only album from the Beatles' top five that I don't think I have ever seen ranked as the top Beatles album.
