What decade did you start liking the Beatles?

Can you remember when (what decade) you first started liking the Beatles? :)

I think it all started for me back in 1993.

For me, it was 1998-ish. That's how far back I remember.

For me it would have been 2000.  I would say it was around the summer of '00 that I really started to make an effort to listen to the Beatles' music.  My friend from camp would always be singing Beatles songs, and would even sing a parody entitled "With a Little Help from Depends," as well as another song I wasn't familiar with, called "Hey Jude."  I knew I had a copy of the Beatles' Blue Album (1967-1970) on cassette at home, so when I got home, I started listening to it.  A few months later, Beatles 1 was released, and there was a special on TV called "The Beatles Revolution" (which I actually to this day prefer over "The Beatles Anthology" miniseries). Instead of asking for Beatles 1 for Christmas, I asked for the CD versions of the Red and Blue albums (but because of the higher price, I had to wait a few more months before I could get them).  But when i did, I listened to them just about every day.  I also borrowed my friend's copy of Sgt. Pepper's, and eventually borrowed a copy of The White Album from the library, and I heard Revolver at my friend's house.  I could go on about each time I individually listened to each album, but that would get boring (however, I remember the exact date I heard Anthology 3 - September 11, 2001).  I have heard all of the Beatles' albums, and have been collecting them (I'm only missing With the Beatles, Yellow Submarine, and Let It Be Naked)...I have also gotten into their solo music quite a bit.

Ha!!  That's funny.  Do you recall the lyrics?

I remember when I first started out as a Beatles fan, the Red and Blue albums were so helpful in letting me sample the Beatles' work.  I still think they're great at introducing people to the Beatles (especially the Red album).  It took me years to collect all the Beatles' main albums on CD, and I think I wound up getting about half of my collection free (via a friend who was going to sell her Beatles CD's at a garage sale...her loss was my gain!).  Good luck at completing your collection...  Be sure that you also get Past Masters 1 and 2 as well!

1960's. I was born in '58, so they were a little bit difficult to avoid!

Think I had about a year or 2 of being into them before Lennon died. I suppose I'm a 2nd generation fan. A Hard Days Night first and then the Red album got me hooked forever. Not sure whether to vote as is it was probably 79/80.

From what I can remember, this is what my friend sang:

What would you do if you were out on a date
And you had to go really bad?
Would you ask to be excused, or would you just explode
From the best meal you ever had?

No, I get by with a little help from Depends
I won't die with a little help from Depends
Mmm...gonna try a little help from Depends.

Oh my gosh...  That's really funny.  I like the exploding part, which brings up hilarious images in my head. ;D  I just hope Depends will never use that for their commercials (like how Luvs diapers used "All You Need is Luvs")...  ??) ...hehe.

Nice music collection, by the way!

I think somewhere around '76, '77. I thought then that The Beatles was a long long time ago.

I'm afraid I'm a very late one :B ... I've only had my first proper listen to a Beatles album (AHDN and Help) in the summer of 2005. I was really pleasantly impressed, and I quite liked the songs, but I only got into the Beatles properly the following summer (2006), after watching clips from videos and concerts on Youtube, and especially after watching clips from Help!. After that KE and I got "1" for Mum's birthday, but of course we ended up listening all together ;D and then we got the films, more albums (and we found this place ((smiley)), and now there's no turning back (grin) I've only been a fan for about 2 years now, but already I'm wondering how I could do without them (smiley)

And.... it took me a while to figure out what "Depends" was (grin)
Lovely collection there dbone 8)

... meant to be an expression, but I probably got it wrong (as usual ;) ) Just meant that I'm finding it hard to believe that just over 2 years ago I wasn't into/listening to the Beatles (smiley)

I started listening to them around 1988 when I was 10.  My Mom had The Beatles 20 Greatest Hits on cassette and she used to listen to it frequently while doing the dishes.  I quickly became intrigued with the song Hey Jude and it was all downhill from there.  Twenty years later, their music still sends shivers down the spine!!
