Natural notes are the notes A, B, C, D, E, F, and G, and are represented by the white notes on the keyboard of a piano

That's why Ringo only plays the piano if it's in C. ;D

oh yes it could be from mathematics! well also, perhaps looks like a lennon style wordplay, maybe refers to an open tuning on a guitar, or a concert tuning, or what nimrod said.
 ;yes

I always thought it was just typical John, a pun on the word 'naturally'?

It is a imcredible song. I have a Bazooka Bass tube in my truck and by far it's the most amazing sound when this song intro's. I always turn it up!

I can't really remember if I loved this song from the first time I heard it, but what I do know is that I totally love it now and it's my favorite song from Magical Mystery Tour. I love everything about it. This really should have been the A-side, but at least it's the B-side. My favorite part of the song is near the end during the "baby, you're a rich man" part, and it's when they're singing that, and during the "baby, you're a rich man too" part, John speaks it. Hopefully you know which part I'm talking about!

Never been a fan of that clavioline playing. Kinda annoys me, actually.

I know what you mean, maybe some slurry cello's wouldve been better ala Strawberry Fields/Walrus..

anyway were stuck with it, it does give it a middle eastern feel, or Moroccan, or something....:D

I like the clavioline.  We can look at it as John's salute to the first British band to have a number 1 hit in the United States...

I've got a special place in my heart for 'Baby You're A Rich Man' because it was the last Beatles song I got to hear.

The June 1983 issue of 'The Beatles Book' (much missed) had a readers poll of favourite songs ('Hey Jude' was number one), right down to the two or three at the bottom that didn't get any votes!
I got on vinyl all the entries until I only had one left (at 71 on the list if memory serves) and, unwilling to get the 'MMT' LP as I obviously had all the other songs on it, I waited ages until finally seeing 'All You Need Is Love' in its orange picture sleeve in W.H. Smith in Ilford with, of course, 'BYARM' on the B-side.
For the wait alone, it was for years my favourite Beatles song!

Bizarrely, and for no artistic reasons I can think of, it has been succeeded in my affections by 'Ask Me Why'.

I like it a lot. Another example of how they were making completely new kinds of music at that time. What else was anything like it? Amazing.

does anyone else feel that the intro is a bit reminiscent of the intro to You Know My Name ?
