Weird to think that this group came from California when they're so different from most of the American groups that were doing sunny pop-folk like the Byrds and the Mamas and the Papas.
"Forever Changes" is really beautiful and haunting, shame it isn't as lauded as Pepper and Pet Sounds.

if you had your own apartment back in the late 60's early 70's this was one LP you had to have, along with Leonard Cohen, the 1st Pink Floyd, CSN&Y, Mr Fantasy by Traffic, Bare Wires by John Mayall, Buffalo Springfield, Cream etc

rather a cult album but me and my friends used to listen to it heaps and sit on the grass in the local park on a sunday with our acoustics playing the songs of it, it was a challenge working out the chords but we did it :)

Brilliant album, always loved it

they were from the same stable as The Doors Mairi, another Cal non sunny pop group  ;D

apparently the label decided to put most promotion $$$ behind the doors due to Jim's appeal.

Forever Changes is a masterpiece, of course, and the first half of Da Capo is great, but I think that Love's eponymous debut album is quite overlooked. That record sounds like a rustic Byrds, I love it.
