7/10... Off topic (kind of), for those of us in bands, how did YOUR band get their name? I'll name my two:
Painful Passion--When first getting into Pink Floyd I tried to assimilate what this abstract name meant. Using the band's persona as a starting point I deduced that it meant "painful passion", as in, Pink is a color associated with passion, and a Floyd is a type of hammer, which can cause severe pain. When it came to name my band (which, in it's first few rehearsals was basically a note for note PF wannabe) I figured "If my interpretation of Pink Floyd's name was "painful passion" why not just call my band that since they are basically my interpretation of The Pink Floyd Sound?" I never did quite learn where they got that name
EVW--When I decided to start a hardcore punk version of Painful Passion, I thought "What do I name it?" and my friend Kirk (who plays guitar for EVW and keyboards for Painful Passion) said "What's the most filthy, disgusting phrase you can think of?" and so I put a bunch of abstract words togethor and what rolled off my tonge was Electric girl privatel Wound. But one of the band's best original pieces is a song about how Pornography is degrading to women and destructive to men, I've taken it to meaning "Electric--the celluloid of film" and "girl privatel Wound--that electricity is destructive to womanhood".
