Yes. Revolver is the Beatles true psychedelic masterpiece more so than the highly overrated Sgt. Pepper with superior tracks like Tomorrow Never Knows which defines the psychedelic era.
-
I'd say Sgt. Peppers, Revolver still has a bit of Beatlemania in it, and you can tell how much work was put into Sgt. Peppers. Anyone who thinks Sgt. Peppers is overrated needs to give it a really good listen.
-
Agree (in Revolver thing).
-
Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band is a superior LP to Revolver in many ways. Yes it is true. Pepper is where its at.
-
Sgt Pepper's is better. Those who say that Sgt. Pepper's is overrated are pseudo-wannabe crowd buckers. But not. :)
-
Well, In your opinion ;)
Personally, Revolver tips Peppers.
-
Sgt. Pepper is where "art" was blended with "music" and both groups took notice! The Lp looked pshycidellic with the lads decked out in colourful costumes and the cover with it's flower power look just took the fan to a different place than he or she had been with the "Beatles"!
-
Peppers is not better than Revolver. From the first song to the last, Revolver is a stronger effort. Not really a psychadelic masterpiece, but a masterpiece nontheless.
-
Tk says it straight.
-
Most of my fellow Beatles fans thinking Sgt. Pepper is much better than Revolver as their psychedelic masterpiece is just PREDICTABLE spin at its worst when SPLHCB has been so overrated for almost 40 years with only a few great tracks that it's pathetic.
-
...
Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band is still one of the greatest albums ever made.
It's a fantastic body of work.

I believe from a psychedellic viewpoint Sgt. Pepper outweighs Revolver. My God it had Good Day Sunshine on it! If you think that Fixing A Hole, A Day In The Life, along with Lovely Rita are not as good as the songs on Revolver there is no hope I'm afraid.

If I compare them :
psychedelic lyrics in Revolver LP (3+3):
Yellow Submarine,
And Your Bird Can Sing,
Tomorrow Never Knows and maybe
I'm Only Sleeping,
Love You to and
Doctor Robert.
psychedelic lyrics in Sgt. Pepper's LP (3+2):
Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds,
Fixing a Hole,

If you read and understood what I said, I stated that Revolver was NOT a psychedelic masterpiece, BUT a masterpiece nontheless and a stronger album than Sgt. Peppers regardless of either of them being psychedelic. I agree that Sgt. Peppers is a more psychedelic album than Revolver, as MMT is more psychedelic than Sgt. Peppers.
I see you resorted to listing choice songs from each album, but only listed one from Revolver. List all of them and there is stronger material on Revolver. I mean 'Good Day Sunshine' is as good or better than 'When I'm 64'. See how that works.
Now dont be afraid, there may be hope for you yet.
-
When I'm 64 is better than Good Day Sunshine. At least in my opinion.
That's what it is, it's all just opinions.
-
Revolver, hand down!
-
Maybe not Revolver, but "Tomorrow Never Knows" is the definitive psychedelic song.
