It's interesting, none of the ex-Beatles solo albums has that "sheen" that "architecture" or "intelligence" like a GM's ghost in the machine of the Beatles recordings.

He did. But somehow the magic was not there anymore, apparently. Not in the way he had it with the Beatles as a group.

There wasn't anything he could do to save Cheap Trick's "All Shook Up" album.

Didn't George Martin produce Paul's Tug of War and Give My Regards to Broad Street albums?

ehh .  . . uhhh . . . . so much for blanket statements!

Same with regards to JR's point about the Jim Carrey et al album.  Sean Connery singing/talking "In My Life"?  I don't want to hear that.  Why ruin the memory of great songs with this bunch of yahoos chattering away Shatner-like.  (Come to think of it, he should of invited Shatner in for a reprise of Lucy in the Sky--let him sing to the original track, even . . . oh god, the thoughts get worse!  Somebody stop them!)

I thought the In My Life track was an instrumental piano only version by George Martin - I have never heard a Sean Connery vocal version.

I think it was the 'bonus track'. Some bonus.
