I've had a pretty decent acoustic guitar since late December, and I've been learning a little bit on it since then. I finally had my first actual lesson last Tuesday -- does anyone know of any songs [especially The Beatles, of course. ^^;] that'll be good for a newbie guitarist to try? >_> <_< >_>
-
For rhythm guitar playing, I choose "And I Love Her"...then learn George's lead after that. It's quite easy.
-
Let It Be, Hey Jude, and Yellow Submarine are all pretty easy.
-
day tripper is a fun one..both lead and rythm
practice chords, like switching between them, and practice scales, then you'll be able to play any beatles song
-
Nirvana songs are easy too

Nirvana songs are easy too
Yeah, cause Kurt wasnt good, i can play any Nirvana song if I tried
-
Watch out what you say about Nirvana around Bruno, DeadMan, or your name will have new meaning.
-
ohk......I like Nirvana, but Kurt Cobain wasnt very talented at guitar, and thats a FactitiousOpinion (not a word)
-
Oh. It sounded like you were trying to bash Nirvana.
(I like your word btw)
-
i think everyone knows cobain isn't it a great guitarist excpet for the stupid people at rolling stone who said he was the 12th or so greatest guitarist.
-
My suggestion will be my 500TH POST FOLKS! Just call me Max. Anyways, depending on how your fingers are feeling (takes awhile to toughen 'em up) 'I'll Be Back' isn't too tough and it sounds so cool.
-
Nowhere Man is very fun, and has a simple fun solo...I can play the whole song(chords, solo, fillins)
-
Or if you are just beginning, how about the guitar notes for 'Ticket to Ride'.
-
This Boy is a good one too
-
i know it's not a beatles tune, but the "stairway to heaven" intro is fun. it should be pretty easy considering i can do it:)
-
Smoke On Water is a great one...noo.....Johny B Goode is the best song to learn first
-
The Who's "Behind Blue Eyes" is easy and sounds cool. You can find alot of tablature online.
-
yeah, i learned Behind Blue Eyes last month
-
wish you were here by pink floyd is simple yet fun to play
-
Even the solo? One of my students is learning guitar, and I told him to learn the intro to Revolution. I figured that'd be easy enough.
-
I do a great version of "I'll Kumbaya And Melt With You".

Thats what got me started on acoustic. ;)
-
I fancy picking up an acoustic, if only to grasp some basic chords.

I'll pick up mine soon, to put chords to the melodies I have 'demoed'. The basic chords are easy, know them from years ago. Even some Beatles' songs are based on simple chords. You can learn basic chords and get a lot of fun out of that anyway...
-
Long Black Veil is soooooo incredibly easy, I learned it in 20 minutes.
-
Or Tomorrow Never Knows. Just one chord.
-
I'd say Rocky Raccoon is a nice one....maybe Eleanor rigby?
-
Eleanor Rigby and Let It Be are easy and because of the chords and rhythm could be good songs to start on guitar.
Bob's Knockin' On Heaven's Door is another one (3 chords with a chance)
-
You can't go wrong with Knockin On Heavens door. ;) One I also played at the beginnning. If you like Floyd at all, Pigs On The Wing is a nice one to get to grips.
Trip Through Your Wires and With or Without You by U2...Infact there are many easy U2...Van Diemens land, Pride and Where The Streets Have No Name are ones that spring to mind.
Then there is Waiting In Vain - Bob Marley...A nice easy G to C
middle 8 of C to D to Bminor then C again x2
I shall shut up now!!! lol
-
I shall shut up now!!! lol
Why? Sure there's a lot of people enjoying (me the first one
-
^Thnx...Just trying to keep the muso section a little more 'spirited.' ;)
-
Bill Withers - Ain't no Sunshine..... A bag of pi*s as they say here in UK....Another expression for...it's easy. lol
-
pink floyd stuff is not that hard...the solo's are not hard, but you gotta have the feel while playing them...I think that gilmour wasn't the best technically wise...but
-
Bob Marley- Stir it Up
-
We Shall Overcome is pretty easy too
-
Just because a song is easy to play dosnt mean its not a good song. Day Tripper is pretty easy to play.
-
You probably hate Sheryl Crow, but If It Makes You Happy is seriously one of the easiest songs I ever learned. All of the verses are just G.
-
House of The Rising Sun is real simple, it was the first song I ever learned.
-
Good shout...How ya been Riccy?..Check out the painting a guitar thread. ;)

-
Good song to start on the bass GUITAR :)
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - American Girl
-
Take it easy by The Eagles is another cake song to start with. Summer time blues is also pretty easy.
-
Nirvana songs are easy too
Yeah, especially the Unplugged stuff, that's what I started playing guitar with. I learned my first chords by playing along with Polly, Jesus Doesn't Want Me For A Sunbeam and The Man Who Sold The World.
-
The latter being an immense cover.
I listened to that song on repeat from Paris to The North East of England.. Nirvana-ish Bus Journey one could say.
-
Nirvana unplugged was a great inspiration at the time on me and my muso friends all learning.
Come As You Are remains a bassline that I teach when I have students.
-
^ Yeah, it's a fantastic line to hear and play.
