One of the by products of being on this forum is that I've come to appreciate certain songs that otherwise I never paid much attention to. Blue Jay Way is one of them. I always thought I hated this song, so I hadn't listened to it in about 25 years. It's probably the song that most fits in with the concept of Magical Mystery Tour.

i think a lot of the time people dismiss the song because it is so tuneless and has nothing that grabs you on first listen, compared to other beatles songs with there killer hooks.

but once you've listened to it a few times you realise that it not having such obvious hooks and melody's is part of the attraction and that its simpleness and continuous hypnotic groove is actually very infectious.

"There's a fog upon L.A. "

When I was a kid I thought he sang "There's a Frog upon L.A."!!

There's something dark about this song, but in a fascinating way.
George can't really get creepy.  :)
hmm, for some reason I've started finding this song quite eerie recently... especially if I only listen to it through one earphone, so it's only George's voice without the music...

And it also reminds me of that youtube thingie where a few snippents Beatles songs are played backwards. The words they've got for the "please don't be long" bit backwards are rather creepy (afraid3)

But putting all that aside, I like the song :) And the MMT clip of it, with the football and double-bass ;D

Oh, I love Blue Jay Way. It's eerie and dark even though it was written as a joke. There's just something about it which makes me like it so much.
