LMAO!!!! ;D

I knew he had a stutter - didn't know he was Scottish!! I presume that's what you meant by 'jock' unless you meant he was very sporty at school, and if he was, I didn't know that fact either!!!

Ah, unless you meant disc-JOCKey! Me stoopid today! DOH! ;D

OK, thanks pc31, that was very nice.

Wonder what year it was that the Beatles "didn't come around too much anymore"?

RS&H just weren't that good, compared to the Beatles anyhow, IMO. No surprise that they didn't "make it".

Really sad to think about how it all ended for C.

I think (but I've never seen them!) that Rory Storm and the Hurricanes used to be a major attraction in the early days of Merseybeat. It's known that Rory had a spectacular stage act. He used to climb on almost anything and sometimes fell down. That attracted only more people to the shows. I also think that Rory Storm was a very Liverpudlian band. They missed the songwriting skills that the Beatles had and somehow did not succeed to put their energy (which they surely had on stage) on to a record.

rory and his group had regular bookings at butlins and other places and were the most popular band around back then....they had suits and stage presence..all the bands wanted to be like them....

Brian Epstein didn't manage Rory Storm at the time he recorded them performing 'America', a number they'd been playing in Spain which went down well. He acted as their recording manager (the only other group he recorded was the Rusticks). At the time their manager was promoter Arthur Howes. Rory had asked Brian to manage them a few years earlier, but Brian turned them down. Ringo said that he could arrange for them to record any time they wanted to, but after 'America' Rory didn't bother.

Why didn't he bother? Didn't he want to become famous like other Liverpool bands?
