It was 1964 and for those living in San Francisco, it was an exciting time for many reasons. One was the Republican National Convention was coming to the city in July. The other was that a group called the Beatles was launching their first American tour there in August. A new exhibit that just opened in San Francisco called "Arthur Tress: San Francisco 1964," now on display at the De Young Museum, features photos of life in the day. The pictures depict political and civil rights demonstrations, young fans excited about the Beatles and just everyday life in the city.
