Tony Sheridan/Beat Brothers
« on: March 15, 2005, 08:14:11 AM »

There's a number of TS/Beat Brother CDs out there these days, and I suppose I need to have one for the collection. Any suggestions as to which is the best sounding compilation? Thanks.

I have the 'The Early Tapes Of The Beatles' CD on the Polydor label with a track listing of -

Anit She Sweet
Cry For A Shadow
When The Saints Go Marching In
Why
If You Love Me Baby
What'd I Say
Sweet Georgia Brown
Lets Dance
Ruby Baby
My Bonnie
Nobodys Child
Ready Teddy
Ya Ya
Kansas City

I'm actually surprised of the sound quality (its good). If you want, drop me a pm with your address and i'll burn you a copy and send it to you. If not, I would recommend this copy.

I need to pick up that new release Marshall. Sounds good. I agree with you about waiting on a new live Star Club disc, as the one I have is dismal. Heres the one I have.

The track listing is as follows-

1. Roll Over Beethoven
2. Ask Me Why
3. Lend Me Your Comb
4. Where Have You Been All My Life
5. Taste Of Honey, A
6. I'm Talking About You
7. Twist And Shout
8. Red Sails In The Sunset
9. I'm Gonna Sit Right Down And Cry (Over You)
10. Matchbox
11. Long Tall Sally

I was thinking about getting that early tapes one, but it was like $16.00 for only a few "Beatles" songs on it, so... meh.

I'm sure that only the Anthology selections actually had The Beatles on them.

Much to much money for that record.
Polydor just released a so called DELUXE VERSION of that old LP. There you'll find all tracks in stereo and mono plus the different versions of MY BONIE. And the sound quality is at it's best.
So don't buy that expensive E-bay stuff. Just enter your record dealer and ask for the new Polydor CD (DELUXE SERIES).
In Germany I gave only 16,99

You're wrong Master, 'cause CRY FOR A SHADOW for example is a Lennon/Harrison composition. It's not sure, whether the Beatles play on all tracks, but 8 tracks are certified for The Beatles as Sheridan's backing band.
