I'm not sure of this, I think it is just great music.  I'll take a look at the article later to see the context of the quote.

That might explain the older crowd.  What about today's young fans?

Well, I'm in the "older crowd" and I don't long for going back to the 60s, my childhood or my adolescence.

I still listen to the Beatles simply because they were the best band ever, who wrote and performed the best pop/rock songs ever.
