I like The Doors. I've always liked 3 or 4 songs but it's never been more than that. As for albums, I've only listened to half of them : their debut, "Waiting For The Sun" and "L.A. Woman". I like them all, but I don't consider either of them to be a masterpiece. I often find Jim's lyrics to be simple and sometimes boring and uninspired, but his voice does impress me sometimes. Ray is the one that gave The Doors their specific sound and I think he's a great musician.

I like The Doors, but in reasonable doses and only if I'm in the right mood.
My favourite songs are the bluesy "L.A. Woman", the simple, yet charming "Love Street",  the piano-driven ballad "Yes, The River Knows" and "Break On Through" which is a great rocker to sing along to.

How's it going 5th Beatle? Have you heard songs such as "Roadhouse Blues," "Soul Kitchen," "Peace Frog," "Maggie M'Gill," "The Changeling," "Crawling King Snake" and "The WASP (Texas Radio and the Big Beat)" just to name a few? These songs are great. Take care.

What's everybody's favourite album from them? My opinion may not be entitled since I've only heard half of them, however out of those I'd pick "Waiting For The Sun". I've always liked it's sound and "Love Street", "Yes, The River Knows" and "Spanish Caravan" are all wonderful songs in my book.

How's it going 5th Beatle? I hope all is well with you. Your choice of album and songs by THE DOORS are excellent! THE DOORS have released nothing but great albums, but if I had to choose one or two it would be MORRISON HOTEL (Great album!) and L.A. WOMAN. Both of these albums are outstanding. MORRISON HOTEL is a great album because of the songs "Roadhouse Blues," "Waiting For The Sun," "Peace Frog" and "Maggie M'Gill" just to name a few. I would choose MORRISON HOTEL, this album KICKS!

L.A. WOMAN is a great album also, it contains the songs "The Changeling," "Love Her Madly," "L.A. Woman," "The WASP (Texas Radio and the Big Beat)" and "Riders Of The Storm" just to name a few. This is a great album also.

In my opinion, both MORRISON HOTEL and L.A. WOMAN would be my choices as my favorite albums by THE DOORS. If you haven't heard these albums, I highly recommend them. Take care.

January 1, 1967: The Doors made their first live television appearance lip-synching their first single ‘Break on Through’ on Shebang, KTLA-TV Channel 5 in Los Angeles.

Nice memories Kelley; but you should have waited one year for the 50th aniversary of that performance! :)

About the Doors, to me they have been a similar case to the Rolling Stones and the Beach Boys: I didn't get them as fast as other favorite bands, but now I love them.

I really like every original album they recorded with Jim Morrison. If I had to rate them, it would be something like this:

The Doors (1967) ***** (excellent)
Strange Days (1967) ***** (excellent)
Waiting For The Sun (1968) **** (very good)
The Soft Parade (1969) *** (good)
Morrison Hotel (1970) **** (very good)
L.A. Woman (1971) **** (very good)

In my opinion they're one of the greatest American bands ever, along with the Byrds, the Beach Boys and Jefferson Airplane.

I agree. I'd also put Mr. Tambourine Man (The Byrds) and Are You Experienced (The Jimi Hendrix Experience) among the greatest debut albums.
