REVIEW: 'If You Like the Beatles ...' an unwitting handbook on the Beatles music

Bruce Pollock's "If You Like the Beatles ..." sounds, on the surface like one of those "If you enjoyed this product, you'll enjoy this" suggestions. But it's also a subtle course in the music that influenced the Beatles and the music that was influenced by them. It starts off with some of the British artists who were on the scene at the same time and who they competed with, such as Tommy Steele, Helen Shapiro, Cliff Richard and skiffler Lonnie Donegan, one of their native influences.
