A recording of jokes and laughter
« on: August 01, 2008, 09:33:21 PM »

August, 1st : A tape with The Beatles jokes and laughter was found in the attick of one of the houses in North England by the son of a recording company worker. The tape will be put to auction in Great Britain and the owner wants to get 8-12 thousand pounds. The record was made in 1964, when The Beatles were working at the song I`ll Follow The Sun. McCartney kept on sayind to Lennon, You are looking at me! And Lennon answered, No, I am not! They couldn`t help laughing and thought they wouldn`t be able to finish the song but in fact they managed to do it that day. Please, confirm the news from the Internet if you can.

That's interesting Jane. Can you give us a link for the full article?

I'll Follow The Sun was recorded along with six other songs on 18th October 1964. There were only eight takes, and very little has leaked out. Hope there's some audio on it!

The tape has been sold for 23 thousand dollars. The identity if the new owner certainly hasn`t been disclosed.

Very interesting. But I'm afraid we won't hear the recording for a long time.

That'll never come out then. Unless there's a copy...

It is a rare find. Ritchie Unterberger doesn't mention it in his book about Unreleased Beatles.

Apple didn't get a hold of it at auction? And wouldn't they automatically have rights to something like this anyway? God, I'd love to hear it. Sounds like one of their sessions where they went home thinking they had something great only to realize the next day that everything had to be redone!

I wonder what it is, exactly: it doesn't sound like a copy of an EMI session tape, or a BBC tape, either, unless someone just had a tape recorder running at the studio. A Beatles For Sale era demo tape, maybe? (huh2)
