If it's God's will, my bride and me are getting married next year at the end of March, and we want to select the music for the party. My future wife will select some music she likes and I'll do the same. Problem is, most of our family and friends don't usually listen to the music I like, and I don't want to offend the guests with something very out of the ground. I mean, my favorite song is "Tomorrow Never Knows", but should I include such a weird track? I finally thought of selecting music from my very favorite bands but not exactly my very favorite songs, as I think it would be wiser to include some of the most well known songs from them (and mostly by the Beatles). I don't pretend to introduce my music to the people but to make them enjoy the night. This is a tentative first list of songs:
The Beatles
I Saw Her Standing There
I Want To Hold Your Hand
Can't Buy Me Love
A Hard Day's Night
Help!
Yesterday
Norwegian Wood
Nowhere Man
In My Life
Eleanor Rigby
Strawberry Fields Forever
Penny Lane
Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
Hey Jude
Something
Let It Be
Buffalo Springfield
For What It's Worth
The Byrds
Mr. Tambourine Man
Turn! Turn! Turn!
Eight Miles High
Jefferson Airplane
Somebody To Love
White Rabbit
The Kinks
Waterloo Sunset
Love
Alone Again Or
The Who
My Generation
I Can See For Miles
Pinball Wizard
The Yardbirds
For Your Love
The Zombies
She's Not There
Time Of The Season
30 songs, a little more than 90 min of music, and the order will be randomized. But as I said, my bride will select her songs as well.
What do you think?

I think some Stones for dancing;
Honky Tonk Women
Lets Spend the Night Together
Brown Sugar
Paint It Black
Satisfaction
-
I love the Stones (and the Doors, the Beach Boys, etc.) but they're on a second level in my preference and the list cannot be so long.
-
If there will be dancing....
You Can't Hurry Love-The Supremes
Ain't Too Proud To Beg-The Temptations
I Can't Help Myself-The Four Tops party2
-
I mean in my opinion Here, There and Everywhere is the most marry-able song in the catalogue.
-
Save The Last Dance For Me - The Drifters
This song is killing me at the moment.

Also, I know you're not into The Beach Boys as much as into those bands, but both 'Wouldn't It Be Nice' and 'God Only Knows' would work gloriously at a wedding!
But I think it's a great list as it is, too. I like/love every single song from there. Congratulations and good luck on your wedding, Hombre!

I'm thinking more about background music to be played during dinner; I guess that at the time of dancing some popular local music will be played.

That's a great suggestion, I'll include it as well. Thank you.

Thanks Ovi. And yes, those Beach Boys songs are beautiful. I'll see if there's some space, but there's so much music I love.

Congratulations on your planned marriage, hombre.

Hurdy Gurdy Man - Donovan

Hurdy Gurdy Man - Donovan
Probably my favorite song by Donovan. Nice sitar and great Jimmy Page.

Congratulations, hombre. I agree, "Here There and Everywhere" would be perfect for a wedding. Your Who choices pique my curiousity (How about "Sunrise"? it's so ethereal).
I'd also suggest "You Send Me," by Sam Cooke, but sounds like you have a pretty good list going already. :)

Thanks Normandie. About the Who, I just chose some of their most iconic songs from the 60's, though they don't exactly fit in a wedding. "Sunrise" is a beautiful ballad, certainly. Maybe I wasn't just thinking about a marriage theme when selecting the songs, just some good music to listen to while people enjoy the party. By the way, most guests don't speak English, so the lyrics won't matter too much! ;D

Congratulations on you upcoming wedding Andrés!

Yes it is, Andrés. It should top your list.

Oh, I see! I was thinking more of "first-dance" type songs. Your list is great, and again, best wishes for a long and happy marriage (and a FUN reception!)

Thanks! I still have 5 months of freedom, but well, I choose love. :)
