Kurt Cobain is one of the most overrated artist of the 90's along with his so called important band Nirvana while he made it pretending to be the anti rock star with his image & killed himself because he couldn't handle the fame which is ludicrous.

I don't know enough about Nirvana to get into a huge discussion, but I will say that he gave rock a kick in the ass when it needed one.

Over-rated?
it all boils down to taste, but I admire Nirvana not for the 'image' but for the songs, and their often simple structure. The basics always seem to have been wrote with such an ear for the public, and they re-lit the flame for any garage band to try and make it, after the indulgence of glamour and exposure seen in the early 80's.

Maybe his death immortalized his legacy, but what premature waste hasn't?
He stood for more than an effected youth, and was the spokeman for a generation (god knows how it happened..but it did)

As a musician his voice is raw - untouched by praying commercialism, and his guitar playing is underrated, in context to his great rhythm playing.
As for the other band members (early period) Chris Novoselic and Grohl offer a great backup, remembering we are disucssing what was mainly a 3 piece.
