Beatles Covers!

Does anyone no any beatle covers that they think are as good as the original? Personally, I think that Stevie Ray Vaugan's cover of Taxman is un-freak'n real! Anyone else open to this one?

I heard some covers by other artists but they didn't seem as good as the originals.
I like the cover of Paul's Live and Let Die by Guns N' Roses though

I like very much Nina Simone's cover of Here Comes The Sun.. It's not better than the original, but it's worth a listen.

Come Together-Aerosmith....the bad boys from Boston make it sound like an original which is what doing covers is all about.

I wouldn't say it's as good as the original but Cyndi Lauper's cover of Strawberry Fields Forever was pretty good.

Phil Keagy-We Can Work It Out---excellent cover.

(From the US country star album Come Together tribute to the Beatles....and it doesn't sound like a country song).

Yeah, that's the only really good Beatles cover for me....the rest are either too similar or too awful for my tastes...

EDIT: Explored The Beatels site....looks interesting, especially the Let It Be...Naked performance that they did. There seems to be thousands of these tribute bands. Personally, I really like the ones that cover all periods of the band, as it'd be exciting to hear live renditions of Sgt. Pepper tracks and all.

Mate, when I saw them live, I saw the footage of the 1964 Australian tour. It was... AMAZING.

This is good actually - John's "I'm In Love" which was given to The Fourmost has been recorded in the style of the early Beatles!

Have a listen!

I think Areosmiths Come Together is the only cover that rivals the original Beatle recording.

I can tell by all of the Aerosmith and Cindy Lauper comments (how can you like the Beatles and like that garbage at the same time?) that most probably won't agree with me on this but Brian Ferry of Roxy Music covers "You won't See Me", and it is great. If you hear it though, it takes some getting used to. He makes it sound like like one of his own songs (how can he not though, he sounds like Count Chocula).

Eddie Vedder sang a great rendition of "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away" for that I Am Sam sountrack about two and a half years ago or something....pretty good even if it is a bit too much like the original.

EDIT: Just remembered that Pearl Jam did an awesome "I've Got A Feeling" that was released on the Japanese version of Ten. A recommended download.

Also, on the I am Sam soundtrack, The Vines cover "I'm Only Sleeping" and it is incredible. Probably closest to as good as the origonal.

Anyone checked out Stevie Wonder's version of We Can Work It Out? Not saying it's my fave cover but certainly one that springs to mind. U2 did an ok version of Helter Skelter. Not quite as raucous as the original.

I thought Macca covered all his songs well @ Glastonbury!!! lol.
