I'm A Loser (ending)
« on: March 08, 2011, 02:29:00 PM »

Just one remark on the song. Is it just me - or
the song ends (fading out) too early? I mean,
beautiful guitar solo starts at 2:20 and it just fades out
unnaturally (ending at 2:38) - but it's sooo beautiful!
I would like to hear at least
30 seconds, if not whole minute of that guitar!

Someone might have made a mistake at the very end of the take so they faded out before you hear the mistake.
Also, if you listen to one of the only full outtakes of this song - Take 6 - when they get to the end John goes back into the harmonica part after George's little solo and then the song just stops. I think they had planned all along that the song would be faded out because they haven't bothered to work out a proper ending.

I agree that it would be nice for the song to go on a bit longer though - it's a nice little guitar part that.

They didn't have a proper ending to the song. Not even live:
The Beatles I'm a loser

 ;D

I had never noticed that before.
Just listened to the afternoon show from the same day and the ending is even worse!
On both versions Ringo seems to keep on playing when he is meant to have stopped.

But by the time they get to the shows in Rome a week later they have the ending correct. It stops at the end of the harmonica part before it goes into the nice guitar bit.

(I love the recordings of those Paris 1965 shows - the way the audience keeps singing the intro/outro bit "Can't Buy Me Love ... Love" even when Paul is singing something totally different in the chorus, and even during the guitar solo. And Paul's attempts at introducing songs in French. The audience seems to be having a great time, yet it isn't the wild screaming that The Beatles got everywhere else)

Obviously they DID rehearse while they were on the road after all.

Ringo still doesn't know the ending though!
