Covers of Beatles Songs
« on: November 08, 2004, 08:38:54 PM »

Anyone heard some good covers of Beatles songs?  I heard one of Ray Charles doing "Let It Be."  It was really good.  I've also heard that Aerosmith did a cover of "Come Together."

I've heard a cover of Across The Universe on a TV commercial.  It could be the same one.

Aussie band 'even' do a fab cover of "And your bird can sing".

What about the "I am sam" soundtrack? Most of those were pretty good

Paul Weller has done And Your Bird Can Sing,(quite good) and a not as good version of Instant Karma....which I know is Lennon tune but there you go.

Stevie Wonder's We Can Work It Out is a nice variation of the tune.
U2's version of Helter Skelter is great.
Another funny one is Tom Jones version of The Long And Winding Rd.....very funny.

I hear what your saying Indica. It's hard not to compare.

I shall try and remember some others.

No, but a cover of it has been used on the "Better Homes and Gardens Show" herein Australia.  Sigh.

What about Joe Cocker's "With a Little Help from my friends"? When I was a teenager and in my total obsession phase, I refused to watch the credits of the Wonder Years...until a few years later I heard that Paul reallyliked that version.  Funny how I changed my mind!

Banararama did a charity version of "Help" with English comediennes French and Saunders. Acceptable since it was for charity...

Aerosmith is the greatest Beatles covers band of all time with great remakes of Come Together, I'm Down & Helter Skelter which sound like originals which is what it's all about as well as being a great rock & roll band in their own right.

I'd like to hear some of these covers if any of you have them.  And Your Bird Can Sing is a great song in the original version so I'd like to hear some covers.

The TV commercial version of "Getting Better" is supposedly by a group called "Gomez."

Joe Cockers "With a little help from my friends". He didn't just cover it, he reinterprted it. At the risk of being lynched I Would say its the only cover better than the original (and maybe Shirley Basseys "Something")

Gomez are a great group...They seem to have had their time here in UK..I've seen them live twice..Each time amazing. great vocals...very Uni kinda vibe.
Their first album Bring It On is definitely worth a check. ;)
