Great minds think alike, Jane!  I was just considering starting this thread myself after not seeing one specifically dedicated to birthday wishes.   :)

Happy Birthday, John!

You might have only been on this Earth for 40 years, yet you made the most beautiful, harrowing and honestly joyous impact upon the world.  I've never met you, but I'll never forget you nonetheless.  Thank you for the music you've brought to the world, and for putting yourself out there as a constant target for the press, the public, the lovers and haters alike, just to try and bring some peace and love to the world.  And most of all, thank you for showing people that anyone in the world can do anything in the world; you started out at nothing and achieved so much, and touched so many people's lives along the way.  I hope you're smiling up there upon your big fluffy cloud, or wherever you are, love.   :-*

Outside of my parents, the most important thing in my life was hearing John Lennon's music.  It made me try (and fail miserably) to be as good as him.  The single GREATEST musician ever to grace this amazing planet of ours.  You died 4 years before I was born, but I feel like you always knew I was going to listen.
