Here Today

I think Here Today is a very ordinary song to John's memory. Hands up if you think Paul wrote the melody and lyrics in five minutes? It shows ...

But Teddy Boy is dreadful, silly, stupid, shallow, ridiculous ...

No: I don't have to vote, and I won't.

I like "Teddy Boy" more..........just wondering though, Ydoll_Gwyn, what are some of your favorite solo Beatles albums?

George: All Things Must Pass, Living In The Material World, Cloud 9, Gone Troppo
Ringo: Ringo
John: JL/POB
Paul: Ram

Excepting George, I don't think the other three ever sustained their talent for a whole album apart for the three listed. However, each had many excellent songs scattered through their other works.

I think Here Today was one of the hardest songs for Paul to write-even if it did only take him five minutes. He still often gets choked up when he plays it. I don't think it's a great song, but it does bring back memories of John and I like that.
Teddy Boy does nothing for me.

And then everything is fine when he moves to the next song.

He's like a TV newsreader that can go all sombre and serious and solemn when reading about thousands dying of hunger in Africa, then switch to bouncy and happy for that light-hearted whimsical news item.

Paul's tears? Crocodile tears!

That's a rather cynical viewpoint. I think John has been mourned quite substantially, and there's no reason for people (Paul included) to keep focusing on his death and feeling sad about it. Just my opinion.

Can people not read, or follow a thread?

Andyec referred to Paul getting choked up when he plays Here Today at shows. My point was: yes, he does, but the emotion changes when he does the next song. Just like the newsreader, who isn't really feeling deep emotions, but rather is acting out a role.

I'm going to have a hard time taking you seriously now. Even I admit that 'Macca 2' sucks.

I know what you were saying. I guess I didn't explain myself well. Let me try again:
Just because he does show emotion during Here Today and not with the other songs, that doesn't mean that he isn't moved by Here Today, he just doesn't want to be sad throughout the whole show.
Again, this is just my opinion.

Sorry, I can't turn my emotions on-and-off like you think it's OK to do.
