Try Some Buy Some
« on: September 11, 2006, 09:07:18 PM »

This song (recorded by Ronnie Spector) came out in 1971 on Apple Records and I've heard that it was written by George. But, it's never mentioned in any of the books.
Also, does anyone know who produced this song? It sounds a little Spector-ish but George Martin could have done it as well.

If anyone has info on this song I'd be grateful.

Yes, it was written by George, but I'm not sure about the producer. The song appeared on the bootleg 'The Songs The Beatles Gave Away', which was downloadable last week in the bootlegforums  :) I think George wrote one or two more songs for Ronnie Spector, but I'll have to check that.

And you wouldn't regret it  ;) ...

George composed Try Some, Buy Some and the single was produced by him and  Phil Spector (Ronnie's husband). George decided to use the same Try Some Buy Some's backing track for his own rendition included in his 1973 album Living In The Material World.
David Bowie recorded a cover of Try Some Buy Some for his 2003 album Reality.

I know nothing at all, Mairi   :-/ ... I'm afraid you're confusing me with The End or Bobber  ;) ... I'm learning every day  ;D ... and I thank every one for asking things so all of us can answer and debate about music ...

P.S. I'm so sorry (and embarrased  :B) for forgetting your B-day (I've been busy but that's not an excuse) that I prefer not to be there wishing you the happiest day of your life (by the moment, of course  ;)) ... I would like to ask you to forgive me ... :-/
