I Heard It Through The Grapevine is a landmark song in the history of Motown. Written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong in 1966, the single was first recorded by Smokey Robinson And The Miracles...

THE FACES HAD SOUL INDEED!

I feel that performance of I'm Losing You ranks up there with Rare Earth's Get Ready and Creedence Clearwater Revival's I Heard It Through The Grapevine.

Supremes - Tennessee Ernie Ford Special - The Happening

I remember when The Supremes released this song in 1967 and saying WTF IS THIS?!!     ???

 ;D

Edit:

I think Danny Thomas, Tennessee Ernie Ford and Andy Griffith were asking themselves the same question.     ha2ha

No, there wasn't! However, PHIL COLLINS wanted to turn a Soul song into a Progressive Rock song, it looks like he succeeded. ROD STEWART tried the same thing with "All Right Now."
