This song is a perfect example of the beatle's effortless brilliance. Created virtually on the spot with throw away lyrics, but what a bouncy tune!

I'm glad to see this song has gotten so much love on the forum. It's one of my favorites, too.

When my song was younger he used to insist that John did the vocals for Willy the dummy in the Twilight Zone episode of the same name, at the end, when Willy  laughing maniacally. In his defense, the vocals do sound eerily similar, but I explained to him—repeatedly—that The Dummy episode was filmed in May 1962, when John was otherwise engaged with his burgeoning Beatles career. Nevertheless, he remained convinced for years that it was John.

At approximately 1:33 in the clip below you can hear the laughter, which does seem to correspond to approximately 2:57–58 in the subsequent Hey Bulldog clip:

Just a bit of Beatle fluff to throw out there. . .

Maybe it's not fluff, Kathy.  And maybe John did a bit of time traveling back in the 60s.

Here he is playing the intro to Strawberry Fields Forever on a melodica in 1964...

;yes It does have the same manic quality. And as HG alludes to, time travel makes sense when you’re in The Twilight Zone
