It was a big hit on both sides of the Atlantic in 1960, and it really sounds right up their alley - typical John-Paul harmony intervals, the minor 4th chord being prominent, guitar-based song. I'd be surprised really if they didn't work this song up, but I haven't heard anything about it. Does anyone know if the Beatles did this on stage?
Very pretty song too!

According to Mark Lewisohn's list they did not.

It sounds so "Beatle-y" to my ears. I guess they couldn't play everything! Thanks for looking up, Bobber :)

Yes, sorry, that is the correct name!
Bobby Hyland version, c 1962 - with John-like harmonica!

Radio yesterday said 1960, but it looks like it was 1962. I would think our boys would have been very ready to sing this very song at that time - it sounds like it could have been written by them 1 year or two later!

BTW, the song came on the radio yesterday while I was driving my French cousin to the airport to go back home after visiting with us for 2 weeks. I told him how much I liked the song, and he said "Of course, yes, it is an old French song". Those French! (Anyone know if he's right?) ;) :)
