I just saw a cover of "Across The Universe" for a camera commerical, i think Canon Camera commerical..Has anyone else seen it?

It came on and i started singing along, then my friends asked me what i was singing and i shouted "The Beatles!!"

When that commercial comes on, I have to mute the tv.

That cover is one of the worst Beatles/Beatles related cover i've ever heard! The next one is some jackass trying to do Happy X-Mas (War Is Over).... Why bother trying unless you do it right and have vocal alteration surgery to sound like John Lennon or whichever Beatle you what? Is that even possible??

i dont like covers, but i like how musicians at least like The Beatles a lot and cover thier songs..Though i agree it would be better if the original version was played

It was a crappy cover...I dont get why they just play the original song without fans getting so offended, or p*ssed, or whatever the word is.....I'd rather hear a Beatles song(original) then some Good charlotte or Blink 182 song

It's all about permission....I'm glad to say i have never seen a beatle song on a commercial in the UK...There was a great nike advert some years back with Lennons Instant Karma. I loved it.
In principle though I think The BEatles music is best kept away from advertising things other than their own message.

I couldn't be bothered staying up. I have to get up at 6:30 am so I'd rather just sleep. I did see them doing Freebird though.

The Good Cause, Bad Performance Award: To the musicians who pitched in for a rendition of the Beatles "Across the Universe" in a fund-raising drive for tsunami charities. It was fun to see a wildly unlikely lineup that included Bono, Stevie Wonder, Slash, Norah Jones, Brian Wilson, Alicia Keys, Billie Joe Amstrong, Tim McGraw, Steve Tyler and Scott Weiland sharing a stage. But a little rehearsal time might have kept the well-meaning performance from being quite so tepid and flat.

Alicia Keys should have at least listened to the song before she butchered it. It sounded like she didn't know the tune. AHHHHHHH!!! Such disrespect. I mean come on, if you're gonna do it at least get it right.

i actually liked alicia. she wasn't on par wtih the trhythm, but she sang the best.:)
