"Raunchy" - the song that got George in the Beatle
« on: April 25, 2009, 03:45:58 AM »

Scene: 1957 Liverpool, top of a bus. 3 young lads huddled in the damp, one clearly younger than the other.

Paul: This is George, John, the one I was telling you about who can play guitar.

John: Yeh?  He's just a kid, does his mum know he's out alone?

Paul: No really, he's pretty good. Here, I told him to bring his guitar, give it a listen, then.

John: Well, get on with it then. (To Paul: ) What's he going to play, Ring around the Rosey?

Paul: Go ahead, George, play him "Raunchy", like you played for me yesterday.

George: OK.

Paul: What do you think John? We do need a lead guitarist, and he wouldn't cause any trouble.

John: Well, I guess he can come to the next practice, anyway. We'll see how he plays Mary Had a Little Lamb.

And the rest is history!
