Recently I read that Mccartney used Rubber strings on his bass, to get that unique sound. I've forgotten the source, but can anyone verify this ..or give some more info.
Cheers.

Never heard that before - in fact I wasn't even aware there was such a thing as rubber strings!
I was under the impression that Paul almost exclusively used his Rickenbacker bass on the sessions though - dunno about the strings, maybe he went back to using piano wire! ;D
-
Yeah, that's what I wondering..Rubber Strings?! but..Mccartney was getting heavily experimental on the bass from Rubber Soul through to Pepper..SO I thought..you never know!
-
Rubber coated maybe?
-
Yeah...you're porbaly right.
I mean..how the hell can rubber make a sound...
Rubber Coated.. good thinking :)
-
I know he used foam at the bridge to dampen them. You should try, sounds great! Maybe he used a rubber device aswell?!! lol
....Innocently meant!
-
I've never tried that :)
I only use the side of my palm...economic sense.. :B
-
he could have been using rubber elastics. I remember when we used to take margarine containers and put elastics around them to make banjos...
Good times...

Hmm homemade banjo is a good idea, thanks. I'm going to need banjo in the future for some songs. :)

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, probably one of my favorite beatles songs of all time. The lyrics just make the songs, along with the stroy behind the painting. There are a few stories about this song. One of which is that it is about LSD. Another is about John Lennons son Julian painting a picture of a class room playmate from school. I believe the the lyrics clearly resemble a LSD trip but the song idea came from the Painting. Just want to know what you think. Thanks
