I still ask why our Ancestors stayed after 1 winter.  Guessing they ate the horse to survive, and couldn’t travel South!  icon_mad

Thanks for posting that video, Kelley.

You're welcome Barry. I had a feeling it would bring back memories for you. The whole show is here: https://archive.org/details/TheWonderfulWorldOfChemistry-Dupont-1964NewYorkWorldsFair   It's great that you had a World's Fair so close, even if you did skip school to go. ;)

"Huck, have you ever told anybody about — that?"
"'Bout what?"
"You know what."
"Oh — 'course I haven't."
"Never a word?"
"Never a solitary word, so help me.  What makes you ask?"
"Well, I was afeard."
"Why, Tom Sawyer, we wouldn't be alive two days if that got found out.  YOU know that."
"Huck, they couldn't anybody get you to tell, could they?"
"Get me to tell?  Why, if I wanted that half-breed devil to drownd me they could get me to tell.  They ain't no different way."
"Well, that's all right, then.  I reckon we're safe as long as we keep mum.  But let's swear again, any- way.  It's more surer."
"I'm agreed."

So they swore again with dread solemnities.

Right.  They did.  An' you better not be tellin' what they swore not to tell.  You can swear on this here dead cat.  Then heave it into the cemetery at midnight.

Doin' that is also a sure cure for warts.  Better than spunk-water!

I think you've known me long enough that we can skip the dead cat! I had my fill of dead cats when I took Anatomy and Physiology in dental hygiene school. But one thing I did do just now was download Tom Sawyer to the Kindle Fire I'm supposed to be learning how to use. It's been a very long time since I read it.

Sure.  Fergit the dead cat.  Spunk-water is almost as good fer warts.  You can get some after it rains in the hollow of that old tree stump over yon'er.  I'll find somethin' else you can swear over.

Here y'are.  You can swear over this here dead rat with a string tied 'round its neck.  Swing it 'round your head ten times while promisin' to keep mum.

Well, I'm okay on warts right now but if I fergit and pick up a toad I'll try going over yonder at midnight to do all that stuff. But the part about not talking to anyone will be tough! If that doesn't work there's always salicylic acid. Just let me know when you've found something suitable for me to swear over.   Oh man! I was hoping it wouldn't be dead!

Well, if'n you don't know how to use that there Kindle Fire contraption, you won't be a-readin' much of that book, I reckon.

No, I've got it on there! I've come a long way since I wiped everything off an elderly lady's Kindle two weeks ago! But if something goes wrong I'll just use the real thing that I got in 4th grade. It's right upstairs on my bookshelf. :)

That's a down right better idea!  That way you can bookmark the important stuff by turnin' down the corners of the pages.

An' the cat or rat has to be dead.  But you can't be waitin' too long to use them.  When they get stiff they won't work.    ;)

Oh great! I'm gonna be having weird dreams tonight fer sure. And the dead animals won't be the worst part. It'll be about the assistant director of our library system who just told us yesterday that she yells at people who dog ear books.  ;D

I reckon that there director lady ain't got much of a life if she be yellin' over things like that.  But you can cure her of what ails her by burying a dead spider in her front yard at the stroke of midnight.
