Title: New Ringo Album: Postcards From Paradise
Post by: tkitna on January 06, 2015, 12:42:01 AM
"Ringo Starr may have recently received notice of his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but that doesn’t mean he’s resting on his laurels. In addition to signing on to do Skechers ads next year, the former Beatles has just announced the completion of a new solo album. This past summer he told Billboard the album would feature Steve Lukather, Peter Frampton, Richard Marx, Dave Stewart, Glen Ballard and Nashville songwriter Gary Nicholson, among others."

I'm pumped

Sounds like it's going to be a crossover from The All Star Band and Ringo's solo albums. I'm curious.

From Wogblog

Prior to the release of Ringo Starr's upcoming new album, "Postcards From Paradise", Universal Music have provided Joe Johnson's Beatle Brunch radio show with the title track, which is also going to be the first single from the album. You may listen to the track by clicking on the Vox amplifier in the upper left corner of the colourful website. It took us a while before the track started to play on our computer. The lyrics are full of references to past songtitles, not uncommon for Ringo - but this was possibly overkill.

Postcards from Paradise is great. Now it's nearly 1am and I have two more songs to listen to on Spotify before I can go to sleep.

Yeah, that is cool. It combines two things I love; The Beatles and old postcards!

good <enough>, I could see liking it more when I've heard it more than once but it does plod on with the same overall tone throughout.  Enjoyed the lyrics.

Curious about "Rory and the Hurricanes" though.

Yeah, you have a point for sure.  I can easily seeing myself getting tired of the song pretty quickly, but i'm jonesing for some new Ringo right n0w.

Well, I've listened to the CD a few times and its alright.  Its not his best work, but I love Ringo and I enjoy it.  The one stand out on the album for me would be 'You Bring The Party Down'.  I love that song.  Anybody else listening to it and have any input?

I have it and I agree 'You Bring The Party Down' is the highlight.

Good instrumentals throughout the album.

Not a knockout for me, but enjoyable.

 :)

There's nothing on here that I don't like but I am particularly fond of the opener, "Rory and the Hurricanes". It's catchy and I love the story it tells (and the fact that I've finally learned enough to get it!) I have to admit that this is the first Ringo album I've listened to all the way through. I don't know if this has always been the case but but lyrically the songs come across like a series of life lessons. I feel like he's trying to share what he's learned in his 74 years and I like that. I've been hearing most of them on Breakfast with the Beatles but listening to them as an album I am pretty sure I'm going to include it in my next Amazon order.

Give 'Ringo Rama' a try Kelley.  Its my favorite from him and it falls into my top 5 solo efforts of any of the lads.

I received it for my Birthday. It's a good enjoyable album, in my opinion. It's more consistent than recent albums such as Ringo 2012 and Y Not.

Like a previous poster, I think that "You Bring the Party Down" is a highlight. "Fill in the Blanks" is my favourite from "Y Not". "Come on Christmas" my favourite from the Christmas album. Ringo should rock out a bit more often IMHO.

"Rory and the Hurricanes" is also very good.
