I'm guessing a lot of people here are English. Or British. Which do you prefer? Anyway, I see a lot of English spellings like colour and favourite, so it seems like most people are from the UK! Well I was just wondering!
-
I'm from the USA but I still use the British spelling of "favourite". I dunno why, it's just a thing I do lol.
-
I too have had a long-time habit of UK spellings for such words as favourite or colour, even though I'm a Yank.
It just seems right, somehow, even tho it's entirely unnecessary.
-
I'm from Australia, so we spell favourite as favourite and colour as colour! tehehe.
-
The U.S. but I love british accents and LOVE LOVE LOVE australian accents so that makes it better then the U.S.
And color, is color.
-
I'm from Canada and I spell it "favourite" and "colour." And here, "Z" is pronounced "Zed" not "Zee."
-
Geeze, I never realized words were spelled differently in other places.
-
Yeah, I forgot Canadians use the English spellings. So it seems like there really aren't many people from the UK around here after all! Hmm.

I think there are actually only a couple of us Brits on the forum!
I wonder why America removed all the "U"s from their words. Anyone know?

I think the U is unecesarry in most of those words. Maybe we're lazy and didn't want to take the time to write the extra letter! You'd think their would be more Brits around here seeing as how the Beatles are from there! We've adopted them as our own though! "Our Beatles are better than your Rolling Stones!"-HS

Why are all the best bands from England anyway? And then what happened? I mean who's come out of there lately? And are there any British rap groups? That would be strange. Rapping with a British accent!!
-
oh Brittish rapping will be the next big thing you just watch. Whatever did happen to Brittish music. hmmm...

Yeah, there are loads of British rap bands such as So Solid Crew, but it just sounds American! But, if you really want to hear rap with a British accent, listen to the Pet Shop Boys "West End Girls" or anything by The Streets. :)
-
Just checkin as a UK member.
The Streets is our current champion of English rap. It gets really funny when you hear Welsh accent rap. I hav'nt heard any Scottish or Irish rap yet. lol

Well, in Norwegian schools the U spelling is optional, but I've always been using it, mostly because my family is English (my last name is Clark, very uncommon for a Norwegian). Currently I'm trying to replace all the American words in my vocabulary (I have a teacher telling me off if I say "truck" instead of "lorry") - and man, is it hard!

I'm from Ohio, but I also use English grammer ("favourite", "colour", etc.) because I've grown up listening to songs with titles like "Green is the Colour" and "Any Colour You Like", and that's how I always thought they were spelled as a little kid.
I guess I never listen much in English class. X_X"
