About a year ago I compiled 10 cds with my favorite pop songs in chronological order (I was unemployed and had waaaaaaay to much spare time), and I noticed that 1967/1968 and 1984 were clearly my favorite years for pop music.

For punk and hardcore however (my main interests), I'd say 1988/1989 and 1994/1995, and I really can't complain of the last couple of years.

Christ.  Only 2 albums I would even own on that whole list, and the second to last was the best.  Also Honky Chateau.  And that's it.

I think you just proved the opposite of your point! Of course by then there was no music being made like 60's music and it really showed.  At least, to me.  IMHO and all.

I only have 4 out of that list - I'm not a Seventies fan really.

I think the greatest year for music must have be 1964 - the year The Beatles REALLY exploded.
