who in order was most vital to the beatles sound

who do you think in order was most vital to the beatles sound of the beatles, like if ringo hadnt drummed on there tracks and say they had someone else in place would have been as big an impact as paul not playing bass on the tracks ....

I'm going to come right out and say: All of them!

The Beatles had a unique sound, and it was essential for the four of them to contribute to it. The sound of their instruments and their voices blended together in a unique chemistry that has never been duplicated, even by the individual Beatles in their solo careers.

I agree. There is no vitalitism in the group. One cannot be without the other (in terms of sound).  

Would you say that the Beatles with Pete Best produced "the Beatles sound"?

You're right harihead, they were all irreplaceable and decisive to the unique and marvellous Beatles sound!

All of them is right. From voices to chords played, all were Irreplaceble.
