Title: Do you think Hollywood is losing its influence?
Post by: Wayne L. on May 28, 2004, 01:18:34 PM
I think Hollywood is losing its influence in movies with the general public because of crap like ridiculous remakes like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre & Starsky & Hutch along with Bush bashing films like Fahrenheit 9/11 by liberal blowhard Michael Moore & The Day After Tomorrow with Hollywood alienating about 50% of its audience in America.  I think Hollywood is losing its influence politically because the general public doesn't care what self important stars like Barbra Streisand, Alec Baldwin & Martin Sheen have to say even though they have a right to say it because they're so damn predictable it's pathetic because there's a Republican in the White House speaking as a non-partisan Independent political watcher.

It is. Because it's full of sh*t.
It made good films decades ago, but it's over now.
Plus, American films are highly overrated contrary to European ones. Hollywood's everywhere... But all those blunt and stupid action movies just wash people's brain.

Wayne's blast is more about his right wing politics than Holywood.  Therefore this really doesn't merit an answer.

I saw The Day After Tomorrow last Sunday (hope that makes sense!). I thought the first half was great - loads of tornadoes, HUGE waves and hail stones etc. But the only real excitement in the 2nd half was when the "heroes" are trying to out-run frost!! Yeah, frost! LOL! The film-makers must have realised how dull that was, so they threw in a wolf-attack to liven things up a bit!

The film has a very important message though - I hope it's not lost in all those special effects!

What makes you think I'm a right winger anyway(which I'm not) since I'm not a member of any political party even though I'm telling the truth mister charlie?

Because you're so sure what you blather on about is 'truth'.

You express many opinions that are purely right wing.  It has nothing to do with what you call yourself.

YOUR truth or your opinion as well while I bet you're a liberal who is a member of the Communist or Socialist Party because you think you're right all the time.

We all know the truth, you two are really fighting over Maria.

Anyways, back on topic.

I think the movie would have been a lot better if more people would have died. Lets make it more realistic shall we? Think about it... (The End will know what I'm talking about since he has seen the movie)   They had to really out run that frost right? (And when the dad threw his buddy down the hole I was the only one that laughed...did you find that atleast a little funny? Maybe I was just tired.) Anyways, the only reason the kid knew to stay indoors in a small space with a fire going is because of his dad. Yet at the end they show tons of people standing on their roofs waiting to be rescued... how did they know to stay indoors like that?  They didn't have a warning...no TV, Phones, Radios etc.  I find it kind of hard to believe that they all knew what to do.

When anyone ever feels threatened, they type lol really big or just laugh because they don't know what else to say...sometimes they throw in an insult. Its human nature though I guess...

But you guys could make your very own thread bashing each other..or you could stay on topic... or you could get married?  ::)

I'm not a card carrying Republican or Democrat but I am an Independent while the Democratic Party rhetoric from its leaders, activists like MoveOn.Org, Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry & Hollywood activists like Barbra Streisand & Michael Moore(for publicity reasons) is way over the top which will more than likely BACKFIRE on them with the American people & the re-election of George W. Bush n November.

I'm NOT a card carrying Democrat or Republican because I can think for myself but I AM a registered Independent who thinks both political parties are out of their minds even though I think George W. Bush WILL win in November against his Democratic challenger John Kerry because he's so bland & boring while it's PATHETIC that the Democratic Party leaders & activists want to portray him as the second coming of JFK which is NOT going to happen with a little help from extreme Hollywood liberals like Barbra Streisand & Martin Sheen who mentally actually BELIEVES he's the real president of the US because of The West Wing.

I think Fahrenheit 9/11 will be possibly one of the biggest documentaries of all time by the liberal left buffoon Michael Moore next to the classic Woodstock concert documuentary since that's the way it's being hyped up at the moment but Hollywood is way too hung up on Bush criticizing him for this, that & the other because he's a Republican more than anything else which is way too extreme for Democratic political activists & even Hollywood instead of just being for Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry which will more than likely backfire big time because too much is too much against one man who is president of the US!

Fahrenheit 9/11 is just exposing to the public some problems of the Bush Administration....the right wing is just plain awful when it comes to watching itself. I look at what actually happens. Take the Waco incident/documentary, The Clinton administration definitely didn't handle things the right way. The right has to learn to take a good look at itself and its leaders before telling everyone else that they're liars.

Moore is as bad as Rush.  Anyone who is so bent on their dogma that they can never see the grey areas are just demagogues.

Still...I think I'll check it out anyway, just because I like seeing Bush exposed.

It has its moments. I LOVED Big Fish. It was a simple sweet movie. Otherwise I think Hollywood has gone to the dogs.

Me too! That might be my favorite film of all time.....I was smiling the entire time as I watched it in the cinema (and through the credits to hear Pearl Jam on the big screen
